“Who Do You Think You Are?” returns to NBC on Feb. 3rd in the same time slot as last year, Fridays at 8pm. The producers say that the series “leads celebrities on a journey of self-discovery as they unearth their family trees that reveal surprising, inspiring and even tragic stories that often are linked to crucial events in American history.” The season 3 lineup includes; Jerome Bettis, Paula Deen, Edie Falco, Helen Hunt, Rashida Jones, Rob Lowe, Reba McEntire, Martin Sheen, Jason Sudeikis, Marisa Tomei, Blair Underwood, and Rita Wilson are all on the schedule
Another series that will begin on March 25th is “Finding Your Roots” with Prof. Louis Henry Gates, Jr. This series is 10 episodes on PBS. You will remember Prof. Gates from his previous series “Faces of America” and Finding Oprah’s Roots.” This series investigates DNA and family stories to discover if two guests are related. The pairs will include; Kevin Bacon & Kyra Sedgwick, Harry Connick, Jr. & Branford Marsalis, Geoffrey Canada & Barbara Walters and more. Reaching beyond celebrity stories, Gates also seeks out everyday individuals who are wrestling with questions of identity. Check your local PBS channel listing for time of the series.
