Top Song 50 Years Ago; #4

The fourth song to hit the top of the charts in 1962 was “Hey! Baby” by Bruce Channel. Bruce wrote the song with Margaret Cobb in 1959 and performed the song for two years before recording it. It ended up being the number one song for the week of March 11-17. It remained the number one song on the Billboard chart for three weeks and for 4 weeks on the Cash Box chart.

Bruce Channel can be considered a one-hit wonder as he didn’t ever have another song on the US charts.

The harmonica on the song is by Delbert McClinton, country music artitst.
