The National Archives has announced the website where the 1940  census will be starting on April 2nd. It is at: 1940census.archives.gov  If you go there right now, there is a video giving a brief description of how to search through the records.

The website is being managed by Archive.com. You can expect there will be much traffic to the website for at least the first few months.
