A program on “The Ontario Children’s Home and Orphanage and its Living Legacy” will be held on Sunday, April 29th at 3 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 58 N. Main St, Canandaigua, NY.
The original Ontario Children’s Home was created by the Young Ladies Aid Society formed at the Congregational Church in 1863. The program will focus on the Children’s Home and Orphanage and how it became the current Ontario Children’s Foundation. Presenters will be Richard Appel, who is President of the Board of Trustees for the Ontario Children’s Foundation and Richard Hawks, the Treasurer of the Foundation. Mr. Appel is retired from Thompson Health System and Mr. Hawks is a Senior Vice-President and Senior Fiduciary Officer at Canandaigua National Bank and Trust Co. Both men have a long interest in local history and civic affairs.
