One of the super hits to go the top of the record charts in 1962 was I Can’t Stop Loving You by Ray Charles. Ray was born Ray Charles Robinson in 1930 in albany, Georgia. He became blind by age 7 from glaucoma. He learned to play the piano at an early age. Ray was at the top of career during the decade of the 1960s. He won 8 Grammy awards through his career. Ray left us in 2004.

The song was written by Don Gibson who also recoded it in 1957 as a country song. That only went to number 7 on the Billboard Country Chart. Ray released the song on his Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music album. Not only did the song reach the top of the Billboard Top 100 chart but the album also reached the top of the Billboard Album Chart. The song was in the number slot on the Billboard chart for 5 weeks from May 20 – June 30. The song was also the number one song on the Cash Box chart for 5 weeks from May 20 to June 23.
