Top Song 50 Years Ago; #13

The next song to hit the top of the charts in 1962 was a very romantic song. Roses are Red (My Love) by Bobby Vinton was originally recorded as an R&B song but he was allowed to record it again with a new arrangement including strings. It was Bobby’s first hit song.

The song hit the top of both the Billboard and Cash Box charts for the week of July 8-14 and remained on the top for 3 more weeks (ending on Aug. 4, 1962).
