Top Song 50 Years Ago; #17

The next song to hit the top of the charts was a big, big hit; “Sherry” by The Four Seasons. It was the group’s first number one hit song. It was just the beginning of a very long string of hits. Frankie Valli was a founding member of the group and still tours with them, even though the rest of the group has changed many times. The song written by Bob Gaudio who remained with the group until 1971 but continued writing songs after that.

“Sherry” was the number song on the Cash Box chart for 6 weeks (Sept. 2 – Oct 13, 1962). It was on the top spot of the Billboard Chart for 5 weeks (Sept. 9 – Oct. 13).
