FamilySearch has announced they now have 100,000 books in their online collection of Family History Books. These books have been scanned and published online through a partners of the Family History Library, Allen County Public Library, Brigham Young University Harold B. Lee Library, Brigham Young University Hawaii Joseph F. Smith Library, Church History Library, Houston Public Library – Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research, and the Mid-Continent Public Library – Midwest Genealogy Center. Thee books include family genealogies, town & county histories, cemetery records, church records, etc.
To search the records from the main page of FamilySearch click on “search” and on the next page click on “books.” I did find a few books that had the message; “This book is restricted; it can only be used in the Family History Library, a family history center, or one of the listed partner libraries.” One of those was a genealogy of the Wilklow family that I published in 1992. I didn’t have a digital copy of this book so I went to a local Family History library where I could download it. I now have my old book in PDF format.
