Back in May I wrote about the 1892 New York State census. It was posted to the Family Search pilot website but it was not indexed. Now those records have been indexed by volunteers and are searchable. Over the years, many of these census records have been lost and about half of the counties in New York State are missing from the collection. Besides, this is the worst census produced by New York State. The reason is that it only includes; name, gender, age, color, country of birth, citizenship and occupation. There isn’t any relationships shown nor does this census even indicate where each family begins and ends. Still, it covers a time period that is missing from the federal census because of the demise of the 1890 census.
