Menu Bar for GenWeb

I made a change to the GenWeb of Monroe Co. website that I have been wanting to do for a few years. I added a menu bar to all the web pages. That amounts to about 625 web pages, of which about 300 are cemetery record pages. One main reason to add the menu bar is that many people will visit a page by doing a search on Google, and not look at the rest of the website. This way, maybe they will also see other web pages that would be of help to them.

This menu is NOT one of those drop down menus on other websites. As far as I can tell, in order to make a drop down menu you have to force the web page to a predetermined width. I don’t like forcing web pages to any width. Instead, all my web pages can be viewed on smart phones or the largest computer screens.

A big thanks goes to Jim Paprocki who showed me the “script” for the menu bar.

“Monroe-L,” the Monroe County mail list, and the Message Board are both on Ancestry.com and those are both required as being part of the GenWeb project. They both are not as active as they once were. It appears more family genealogists are now posting queries on Facebook.

The Pictures section of the GenWeb website uses a special software to display the pictures and I couldn’t figure out how to put a menu on the Pictures pages.
