Rochester TV, 1953 – Tues. evening

Continuing on with programs that were on TV in Rochester in 1953, we turn to the prime time schedule. The Tuesday evening schedule includes one of the most popular shows of the early days of TV; Texaco Star Theater You may not recognize the title but you will know the star; Milton Berle. It is said that Uncle Milty sold more TVs than anyone in those early days of TV. Here is the programs on WHAM, channel 6 for 14 April 1953:

  • 7:00 – 7:30 – March of Time. Newsreels from the 1930s and 1940s.
  • 7:30 – 7:45 – The Dinah Shore Show. Her first show. Musical not talk like her later show. Watch this episode from 1952 on the Internet Archive.
  • 7:45 – 8:00 – News Caravan.
  • 8:00 – 9:00 – Texaco Star Theater. Watch this episode of the show from 1953 on the Internet Archive.
  • 9:00 – 9:30 – Cinderella Weekend.
  • 9:30 – 10:00 – The Armstrong Circle Theatre. Dramatizations based one true incidents.
  • 10:00 – 10:30 – Two for the Money. Game show.
  • 10:30 – 10:45 – Embassy Club. Music with singer Mindy Carson.
  • 10:45 – 11:00 – The guide says “Bob Considine” but the actual title was probably Let’s Take Sides which was a discussion program with Bob as a host.
  • 11:00 – ?  – News.
