Last month there was a book published on the history of the Rochester Public Library. Rochester Public Library: 100 Years of Service, 1911 – 2011 was written by a team of staff from the library and retirees. It features over 250 photographs, many never before published. The book not only covers the Central Library but also shows the evolution of the other branches throughout the City. Photographs offer glimpses of city life through the last century. Also it chronicles how the library has gone from just books to loan music CDs, movies and art. Now the internet connection at RPL is very popular not for just entertainment but also for those seeking a new job.
The book is available for $22 at the Library Store in the Central Library. If you want to get it by mail, add $2.50 for postage in the US and make your check out to: Rundel Library Foundation, 115 South Avenue, Rochester NY 14604.
