First Generation

1. Frederick Anton Leopold Wilklow was born about 1737 in Germany. Frederick's marriage record says he was "of Hanover" but more possible is that he was born in the Principality of Lippe. In the 1730s and 1740s the Wilkenloh families in Germany lived in the area of Germany that is on the map, below. Fred probably also came from this area but no proof has been found. Many of the older records from the New Paltz Dutch Reformed Church have the name spelled "Wilkenloh" as in Germany. He died after 1790 in Ulster Co., NY.

Frederick Anton Leopold Wilklow and Anna Maria Glaser were married on 27 September 1762 in Shawangunk, Ulster Co., NY. Married by Cornelius Dubois (Justice of the Peace) but recorded in the Shawangunk Church. Anna Maria Glaser was born about 1741 in Stuttgart, Baden-W├╝rttemberg, Germany.

Frederick Anton Leopold Wilklow-1 and Anna Maria Glaser-2 had the following children:

+2i.John Wilklow.
+3ii.Jacob Wilklow.
+4iii.Daniel Wilklow.
5iv.Polly Wilklow was born about 1770 in Lloyd, Ulster Co., NY.
6v.Isaac Wilklow was born about 1773 in New Paltz, Ulster Co., NY. He died before 1776.

Isaac never married. He, along with many others, bought the school lot in Lloyd in 1804. There is a legal notice of his death in the Albany Evening Journal on 19 May 1859. This legal notice includes a very long list of heirs which is very helpful in putting together the early generations of the family.
