107. Similis Fowler Wilklow was born in June 1840 in Willoughby, Lake Co., Ohio. Similis enlisted in the Army at Alegan, Mich. on Oct. 12, 1861 in Co. E, 15th U.S. Infantry and was discharged in Sept. 1862 at Nashville, Tenn. His enlistment record calls him 5' 8.75" with gray eyes, brown hair, and sallow complexion. He was running a billlard parlor in Owatonna, Minn. in 1880. Similis later was an insurance agent and traveled a lot. He left his family on April 15, 1889 but did not return until 1891. He was in the company of a girl he introduced to his wife as his cousin, Ida Byers. Similis and Ida left after a few days. Sometime after this, Similis began calling himself a Doctor. Years later, Ida said she thought he only fitted trusses. Below are some of the residences of Similis during his travels which came from his Civil War pensions records. Also, at the bottom of this page is a section on Ida and her husband, Willis Hall and their daughters. Similis died on 4 August 1902 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., CA.3 He was buried at Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., CA.3
