HUME - Caroline B. Thomas, 85, of Claybed Road in Hume died Thursday (April 5, 2001) at Olean General Hospital.
Mrs. Thomas was born Sept. 8, 1915 in the town of Hume, a daughter of Alfred and Kathryn Busta Travis. Dhe married Norman W. Thomas Dec. 14, 1935 in Sandusky.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hume and a former employee of Mallory Timers in Warsaw. She loved her family and crocheting, and enjoyed watching television with her husband.
Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Jo-Anne (Paul) Matthew of Gloversville, Beverly (Lois Anne) Thomas of Fillmore and Melva (Philip) Rice of Belfast; a son, Douglas (Carmen) Thomas of Buford, Ga.; three sisters, Anna Mae Sweet of Hume and Margaret (Glen) Clohecy of Holcomb; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A grandson, Jeffrey N. Thomas; two brothers, Ernest VanBuskirk and Melvin VanBuskirk, and two sisters, Avis Case and Alice Williams, are deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kopler-Williams Funeral Home in Fillmore. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Joel Stiud, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hume, officiating. Burial will be in Alger Cemetery in the town of Hume.
