280. Jean Pearl Wilklow was born on 19 March 1883 in Farmersville, Cattaraugus Co., NY. She was a teacher in Cuba, NY in 1908. She died on 2 March 1959 at Olean General Hospital in Olean, Cattaraugus Co., NY. She was buried on 5 March 1959 at Chestnut Hill Cemetery (Sec. B., lot 26) in Portville, Cattaraugus Co., NY.

Mrs. Alfred Ryder
PORTVILLE - Mrs. Jean P. Ryder, Wolf Creek Rd., widow of Alfred Ryder, died Monday, March 2, 1959 at the Olean General Hospital.
She was born in Belfast, March 19, 1883, and had spent her life in this area.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ward Jacoby, Cuba, a son, Lewis A. Ryder, Portville, a sister, Mrs. Beulah Schrader, Pittsburg, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She attended the Methodist Church of Portville and was a member of the Gleaner Class of the church as well as Portville Grange 842.
Prior to her marriage she taught school at New Hudson Center and Wolf Creek.
The body has been removed to the Marble Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted Thursday (Mar. 5, 1959) at 2 p.m. Rev. Earl D. Wooddell, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

He lived in Clarksville, Allegany Co., NY in 1908. He was a farmer. Alfred died in 1944. He was buried at Chestnut Hill Cemetery (Sec. B., lot 26) in Portville, Cattaraugus Co., NY.

Mary Elizabeth Ryder and Ward Edgar Jacoby were married on 11 April 1936 in Boliver, Allegany Co., NY and they had a daughter and a son. Ward Edgar Jacoby was born on 11 September 1912 in Portville, Cattaraugus Co., NY. He died on 10 December 1968 in Bradford, McKean Co., PA. He was buried at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Portville, Cattaraugus Co., NY.

CUBA - Elizabeth Jacoby of 2837 Wolf Creek Road died Friday (Oct. 11, 1996) shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital.
She was born June 15, 1915, in the town of Clarksville, a daughter of Alfred and Jean Ryder. She was married to Ward E. Jacoby, who died Dec. 10, 1968.
A lifetime resident of the area, [missing] Portville High School.
She was a member of the Portville United Methodist Church and its board of trustees. She also belonged to the Tyler Chapter No. 97 Order of the Eastern Star of Portville, was a volunteer for the Interfaith Caregivers, and was a foster grandmother at the Children's Learning Center at Portville Central School.
She is survived by a son, Henry L. (Marilyn) Jacoby of Cuba; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Gibbons; and a brother, Lewis Ryder.
Friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., [missing] funeral and committal services will be held Monday (Oct. 14, 1996) at 7 p.m. The Rev. Daniel Barry, pastor of the Portville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
Memorials may be made to the Portville United Methodist Church or the Tyler Chapter No. 97 Order of the Eastern Star.

WARD E. JACOBY
Portville - Ward E. Jacoby of Wolf Creek Rd., died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 1968) of injuries received while at work at the Richard B. Herzog Oil Field Service Co., Kendall Ave., Bradford, Pa.
Born in Portville, Sept. 11, 1912, he was a son of Henry L. and Natalia Schoonover Jacoby. He married the former Elizabeth Ryder, who survives. He had been a lifetime resident of the Portville area.
Besides his employment at the Herzog Oil Service he was employed by the Messer Oil Co. as a foreman.
Mr. Jacoby was a member of the Portville United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his widow, are a daughter, Miss Lois E. Jacoby, a son, Henry L. Jacoby, both at home; a grandson; two brothers, Robert Jacoby of Buffalo and John R. Jacoby of Richburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are being received at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held there Friday (Dec. 13, 1968) at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Alden Smith, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Portville, officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery at Portville.
