425. George Samuel Wilklow was born on 23 March 1905 in Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ. He was born on 28 March 1905 in Jersey City, Hudson Co., NJ.28,42 He was adopted by Rev. Leighton Williams who changed his name to George Samuel Wilklow. At the time of their marriage, both George and Bernadine lived in Tarrytown, NY. They were married by Rev. Leighton Williams and one of the witnesses was George's brother Addison. George was living in Bloomington, NY from 1930 to 1932. Between 1930 and 1932 he was a linotype operator for the Kingston Daily Leader. George worked for many years for Western Publishing, from which he retired in 1970. George died on 5 January 2004 at Atlantic Health Care in Vero Beach, Indian River Co., FL.28 He was buried on 7 January 2004 at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach, Indian River Co., FL.

George Samuel Wilklow, 98, of Vero Beach, died Jan. 5, 2004, at Atlantic Health Care, Vero Beach.

He was born March 28, 1905, in Newburgh, N.Y., and moved to Vero Beach in 1971 from Highland, N.Y.

Mr. Wilklow was a supervisor at Western Printing Co., Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He helped start up Highland Recreation Swimming area in the late 1940s. He volunteered for many hours to help build bathhouses, rafts and picnic tables. He was a member of the Ulster County Republican Council, and a longtime committeeman for the Highland Episcopal Church, Highland. During World War II, he was a volunteer for the Civilian Air Defense Organization.

He was instrumental, with others, in developing a comprehensive sports program for Highland, including Little League baseball, and adult baseball and softball. He liked to read, bowl and golf.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine, and one son, George Charles Wilklow, as well as all of his sisters and brothers.

Survivors are one son, Dr. Leighton B. Wilklow, of Vero Beach; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

SERVICES: A graveside service will be 10 a.m. today in Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.

Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

George Samuel Wilklow and Bernadine Margaret Chamberlain were married on 21 March 1926 in Marlboro, Ulster Co., NY.26 Bernadine Margaret Chamberlain was born on 13 January 1910 in Nyack, Rockland Co., NY. She died on 19 January 1991 in Vero Beach, Indian River Co., FL. She was buried on 22 January 1991 at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach, Indian River Co., FL.

Leighton Bernard Wilklow was born on 19 July 1932.42 He married Carol Hey and they have children.
