644. Charles Francis Wilklow was born on 18 November 1932. As SFC in the Marines, he was on a mission aboard a CH46A helicopter (serial #150955) on an extraction mission in Laos on 3 June 1967 when the helicopter was shot down. He escaped captivity after being staked out by the North Vietnamese as human bait for rescuers for several days. His captors had thought he was too close to death to need a guard, but he managed to crawl off into the jungle. He continued to evade the enemy and was rescued 3 days later. He lived in Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., NM in 1985. He died on 27 July 1992 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., NM. Charles was buried on 30 July 1992 at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, Santa Fe Co., NM.
