The soft rock group Bread has been featured here twice before. First for their first hit, “If“from 1970 and then “Make It With You” from 1971. “Baby I’m-A Want You” was also a hit for the group in 1971. The song was written by, arranged by and produced by David Gates. He was also the singer on the song. The group would break up in 1973. They tried to get back together in 1976 but it was very short lived.

“Baby I’m-A Want You” got up to #3 for 2 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (Nov. 21 – Dec. 4, 1971). Then on the Cash Box Top 100 chart it was also at #3 for 2 weeks but for the weeks of Nov. 28 – Dec. 11.
