New This Week

I scanned The University of Rochester; The First Hundred Years, (1950). This is a nice history of U. of R. from it’s beginning in a tavern, to the old campus centered on Prince, and then moving to the River campus. It is 96 pages with lots of pictures of the University through the years.

I scanned The University of Rochester; A Story of Expansion and Its Background, (1930) by Hugh A. Smith a year ago.

The University of Rochester is now the largest employer in Monroe County. That includes the college and Strong Memorial Hospital and their other medical services.

I also scanned A Brief History of South Perinton United Methodist Church (1987). This is just a Xeroxed booklet. That means the few pictures are not of very good quality. It does have lists of members of this very old rural church. I also included a program from the sesquicentennial celebration on Oct. 18, 1987. I would think that very few of this document still exist even though it is only over 30 years old.

I scanned something else but it isn’t local history so I put it on the Internet Archive. It is 50 Years with Snap! Crackle! Pop! Coloring Book that was published in 1978. You can view online or download the PDF file and print pages to color. The reason that I scanned it is because it has some history and historical drawings from the 1920s to to the 1970s. I really like the groovy drawings from the 1960s. Rice Krispies is only mentioned once in the coloring book.
