The group Bad Company had their first hit in 1974 with their song “Can’t Get Enough.” The group was formed in Britain in 1973 but all the members had been popular groups before then. Singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke had been in the group Free. Guitarist Mick Ralphs had been in Mott the Hoople and bassist Boz Burrell had been with King Crimson.
The song is more hard rock than top 40. I would have heard it mostly on WCMF which in 1974 could have been described as a progressive rock station. Today they call themself a classic rock station and “Can’t Get Enough” is probably still heard on the station. In 1974 the song got up to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of Oct. 27 – Nov. 2. It did better on the Cash Box Top 100 chart where it was at #1 for the week of Oct. 20 – 26.
Bad Company released the song on an album titled Bad Company. On that album was also the song “Bad Company” that I’m sure I heard played on WCMF about 1974.
