Stevie Wonder was back on the top of the record charts again with his song “You Haven’t Done Nothin’.” I remember the song but wouldn’t have been able to tell you the title of the song. The song was one of his angriest political statements and was aimed directly at President Richard Nixon, who resigned two days after the record’s release. It was at #1 on both the Billboard and Cash Box charts for the week of Oct. 27 – Nov.
This song featured one of the first uses of a drum machine. It is augmented by Stevie playing the bass drum and cymbals. He is also playing most of the keyboards. He uses the Jackson Five as background singers on the “Doo da wop!”
Stevie has won many Grammy awards over the years. This song was on the album Fulfillingness’ First Finale which won Grammys for Album of the year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male.
