Funeral Home Records

I have had these funeral home records for about 30 years but forgot that I had them. They are the Daily – Fowler Home Records, 1888 – 1939, which is Brockport.

The business started in 1883 (or 1888) by Austin D. Daily, who also sold furniture in Brockport. In 1897 Alonzo V. Fowler started working for Mr. Daily. The next year he married Mr. Daily’s daughter. Then in 1914 Mr. Fowler bought the business. In 2010 after 3 generations of the Fowler family running the business they sold it to an employee who still runs it.

There are 88 pages of records arranged alphabetically. They gives date and place of death along with age. The records also show the place of burial. Last is the book number and page in the original records. I think the only other thing that would be in the original records would be who paid for the funeral.

The records were indexed by Mary E. Smith who was the former Hamlin Town Historian. She gave me these record those many years ago. Mary died in 2022. She also gives credit to Ruth Rayborn for typing the records. There are a few penciled-in notes and corrections.
