Yearbooks

I didn’t scan many yearbooks last year. That’s because a team from FamilySearch was at the Rochester Public Library scanning their collection of yearbooks. The team ended up scanning about 1,300 yearbooks from around Monroe County. I linked to all of those on the School Yearbooks web page.

Now that FamilySearch is done scanning, I figured out what yearbooks that I have that need to be scanned. In December I scanned Arete, 1968 from Aquinas Institute. In late December I scanned Hiltorial 1960 from Hilton High School. The first week of January it was Arista 1967 from Brockport High School that got scanned.

Last week I scanned Hiltorial 1963 from Hilton. It is both a Junior and Senior High School as it contains grades 7 – 12. There were 113 seniors graduating in 1963. They would be around 80 years old now.

At Hilton Central School there are lots of clubs for the students. There are groups for Future Nurses, Future Homemakers, Future Teachers, and Future Framers like the group to the right. That group existed because at that time the area around Hilton would still be considered rural. The farms are now getting smaller with many more suburban style homes.

The sports section of the yearbook doesn’t show any sports for the girls.  There is a picture of 6 girls that were scorekeepers for the track team and the usual cheerleaders. There isn’t a picture of a football team. Must be they didn’t have a team at that time.

I still have 17 more yearbooks to scan this year so expect to see more.
