The Ohio Players had a hit with “Fire” in 1975. You can probably guess which state the group was from. They supposedly first got together in 1959. Throughout the history of the group there were many changes in the band members. They would have another hit in Jan. 1976 with “Love Rollercoaster.” Even after they finally had a couple of hits there were even more changes in the group. Most of the group left in 1980 but the rest of the group limped on for a few more years before calling it quits.
“Fire” was on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of Feb. 2 – 8. It would end up at #1 on the Cash Box Top 100 for the week of Feb. 16 – 22.
