Fisher 1972 Yearbook

Last week I scanned the 1972 yearbook for St. John Fisher College. All the rest of their yearbooks were called Jo Roffs but on the title page of this one it says it is The Book, St. John Fisher.

Melanie

Fisher became co-ed in fall of 1971. So how is that Carol Worth (far right) can be the first woman graduating in the spring of 1972? Was she a transfer student? Or was she taking night school classes? For some reason, colleges used to let both sexes take classes at night at men’s schools.

It appears that this school year had lots of concerts for the students. On pages 12 & 13 are pictures of Melanie (“Brand New Key”). Pages 28 – 29 have pics from a performance of “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Local favorites Bat McGrath & Don Potter are on pages 50 – 51. A group called “Chase” that was a rock-jazz fusion band is on pages 52-53. Pharoah Sanders plays the saxe with his jazz band (p. 130 – 131). Richie Havens (p. 138 – 139) was at his most  popular after being the opening act at Woodstock. Then last, was Sha Na Na (p. 158 – 159) with their performance of oldies. I saw them about that time and they were “tight” with only a few seconds between songs.
