Trudy

Trudy McNall in 1958.

I previously had 34 pages from the local TV show by Trudy McNall. Now, it has had a major update. Now there are 232 pages of recipes. There are somewhere around 2,000 recipes in total. These cover most of her run on what was then WHAM, channel 5, and now is WROC, channel 8. I found a reference that her show Home Cooking started on Sept. 7, 1953. The earliest recipes I have are from October 1954. You could get a 2-page flyer with recipes from the TV station every two weeks.

The TV show was on weekdays from 1953 to 1961. Then it was on only one day a week until 1964. After that she guest appearances at local events and worked as a consultant to various food businesses.

These recipe flyers are old and some have food stains, some written on, and on some you can see where they were folded to be mailed all those years ago. Then some have edges that have been chewed by mice; especially ones from 1957. I did a pretty good job of digitally cleaning them up.

This is a large PDF file. It is just over 40 megabytes. So if you have a slow internet connection it might take a while.

I also scanned the program for the 1976 Commencement of Cardinal Mooney High School in Greece,. It was found inside the 1974 yearbook from the school that I scanned a couple of weeks ago.

  1. Hi Dick, Thank you! Trudy McNall was part of Rochester life for a long time. Thank you for saving her recipe flyers. I’ll have fun exploring the pages and trying many of the recipes.
