Olivia Newton-John was back with another hit song in 1975 with “Please Mr. Please.”

The song was written by Bruce Welch and John Rostill, both members of the British band The Shadows. Welch released the song in 1974 without much success.

Olivia’s  version of the song was in the top 10 songs on the Billboard chart for 10 weeks (July 13 – Aug. 23). The highest 2 weeks were when it was at #3 from Aug. 3 to 16. Over on the Cash Box chart it got all the way to the top for the week of July 27 – Aug. 2.

Olivia would have many successful songs in the 70s and 80s. She would also star in the movie, Grease in 1978. Her song “Physical” (1981) would have a music video showing her exercising but we all know what it was really about.

Olivia suffered from breast cancer three times. That was what eventually caused her death on 8 August 2022, at the age of 73.
