Scanned some various things last week.

First is the 1959 Jo Roffs, the yearbook for the 1959 class of St. John Fisher College. This was just 4 years after the first graduating class in 1955. There are pictures of 66 of the men that graduated in 1959. The lower classes are in group pictures. This yearbook is only 52 pages. That left me time to do other things.

The rest of these items were lent to me by the Greece Historical Society.

Greece Baptist Church

From Strength to Strength, One Hundred and Fifty Years of Greece Baptist Church, 1814 – 1964 was published in 1964. It is a history of Greece Baptist Church. They were originally on Ridge Road. In 1959 they broke ground for a new and much larger church around the corner on Long Pond Road. The old church building got sold and knocked down and that area is all commercial businesses today.

Twenty More Years of Greece Baptist Church, 1964 – 1984 . This booklet adds another twenty years onto the history of Greece Baptist Church. This has descriptions of their stained glass windows. There is also a map to show where the original church building was located in relationship to their current church.

Celebration is from 1977. It was to celebrate that the Greece United Methodist Church was out of debt. It really ends up being a history of the church that was formed in 1841. They would originally meet in a local schoolhouse. It would be 1867 before they had their own cobblestone church building. In 1874 they moved to a new wooden church that they would use for over a 100 years. In 1955 they laid a cornerstone for the brick church that they still meet in.

Museum Service; Vol. 32, no. 8  is from Oct. 1959. It was the news magazine from Rochester Museum and Science Center. In the past I have scanned another 35 issues of this news magazine. You can see those on this web page.
