Paul Simon continued writing songs and performing as a solo artist. He had many hits over the years but the only one of his song go to #1 on the record charts was &#8220;50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.&#8221; He wrote the song after his divorce from his first wife, Peggy Harper. It was on the top of both the\u00a0<em>Billboard<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Cash Box<\/em> charts for 3 weeks (Feb. 1 &#8211; 21, 1975.<\/p>\n<p>The drummer on this song is Steve Gadd who was born in Irondequoit and attended the Eastman School of Music.
