The group formed in 1970 but it would be their album before they would have a hit with &#8220;Evil Woman.&#8221; It was written by Jeff Lynne who is also the lead singer on the song. Jeff said that he wrote the song in a matter of minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The song got up to #9 on the <em>Cash Box<\/em> chart for the week of Feb. 15 -21. On the <em>Billboard<\/em> chart it got up to #10 for two weeks (Feb. 8 &#8211; 21)<\/p>\n<p>The group never did have a number one hit on the charts. The original ELO broke up in 1986.
