Hit Songs of 1973 – #6

By 1973 Elton John had already had some hits with “Tiny Dancer,” Rocket Man,” and “Honky Cat” but “Crocodile Rock” would be his first song to hit number one on the US record charts. It was on the top of the Cash Box Top 100 chart for two weeks (Jan. 28 – Feb. 10) and three weeks (Jan. 28 – Feb. 17) on the Billboard Hot 100.

A lot more hit songs came after this. Most were written by Elton and Bernie Taupin.

Elton has raised lots of money for his AIDS Foundation that he started in 1992. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for services to music and charitable services in 1998. That was just one of the many awards he has won over his career.

Elton started a farewell tour in 2018 but that was interrupted by Covid. He has finished all his tour dates in the US. If you want to see him before his retirement you will need to go to Australia or Europe.

Besides this video are many live videos of Elton doing this song on YouTube.
