The song “Hooked on a Feeling” got up to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1968 for B. J. Thomas. Then in 1974 the song went to the top of both the Billboard chart and the Cash Box Top 100 chart for the week of March 31 – April 6. That 1974 version was by the Swedish group, Blue Swede. It has a big “hook” with the “oogah chugga” at the beginning (and also briefly in the middle). That also turned some people off to the song.

The group was formed in 1973. Then in 1975 the lead singer, Björn Skifs, left the group. The group continued for a while but never had another hit.
