The group Pilot broke on the music scene in 1975 with their first single “Magic.” The song was written by two members of the group. The group was from Scotland.

The song got up to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of July 6 – 12. On the Cash Box chart it got up to #5 for two weeks (July 6 – 19). In Canada it got up to #1 on their single’s chart.

Follow up single “January” released in 1975 reached number one in Australia, Ireland and the United Kingdom. It barely showed up on the charts in the US. By 1978, all of Pilot’s members were playing in other groups.
