This is a version of a theme from a TV Show. “Theme from S.W.A.T.” by Rhythm Heritage isn’t the version used on the S.W.A.T. series. That was much shorter (under a minute) and written and performed by Barry De Vorzon. This song by Rhythm Heritage was at the top of both the Billboard and Cash Box chart for the week of Feb. 22 – 28, 1976.
Rhythm Heritage only existed for a few years. Playing guitar on this instrumental is Ray Parker, Jr. who would record the theme from Ghostbuster in 1984.
The series S.W.A.T. ran from Feb. 1975 to April 1976. The series was resurrected in 2017 and ran until last year.
In the video clip from the 70s series I noticed that the police are using M16 military rifles. They also are wearing baseball caps instead of helmets which are standard now.
