Don’t Blame Me

Hundreds of the links on the Monroe County GenWeb pages are not working. They all are links to things on the Rochester Public Library website that worked earlier this week but stopped working within the last few days. It appears that RPL did an update to their website to make it more secure. In the process they broke a lot of links to their historic collections. When you click on those links, it automatically defaults to their home page.

This has happened before. The last time this happened it took a couple of weeks before they made the repair to their website.

The broken links that I have found are one to all their historic books, newspaper indexes, and city directories. There may be more broken links that I haven’t found as of yet.

Let’s hope that RPL gets this problem fixed soon.

  1. Hi Dick, Thanks for letting us know. The links don’t work on the Library site either. I just tried to access the newspaper index pages and the city directories page from their site and each one goes back to their main history/genealogy pages. Frustrating! I use the links from the Library site frequently.
