Dick Halsey's Family Genealogy

line

I am a big genealogy nut! This site is used to post some of my family genealogy. It connects to family genealogy that I currently have available.

About 1976 I was found as a missing heir. I got a whole $92 as an inheritance but it got me started in genealogy. I have, in the past, done genealogy professional but I no longer have the time to continue to do it professionally. In 1993 - 1994, I aided Eileen Welsome, a reporter from the Albuquerque Tribune in finding people who had been injected with plutonium at a Rochester area hospital in the 1940s and 1950s. Her quest for those victims is documented in the book titled The Plutonium Files, which is available now through archival bookseller.

I sent many years as a volunteer for the Rochester Genealogical Society. I served 10 years as the membership person and then another 10 years editing the society newsletter.

In July 1996, I volunteered to host the GenWeb of Monroe Co., NY site as part of the US GenWeb Project. I started that site by adding the many tombstone records of Monroe Co. cemeteries that I started copying in 1983. Then added many other kinds of records so that there are over 900 web pages on that sile.

In June 2008 I started a blog in which I write about local history and genealogy.

Some of my genealogy pages on this site date back to 1997. Some families, like the Wilklow family were created using RootsMagic and have hundreds of linked pages.
