Church History & 3 Theater Programs

Church in 1951

A new scan is the small booklet of the history of Christian Reformed Church of Rochester; 1877 – 1952. This church was originally known as Holland Christian Reformed Church as most of the original members were Dutch. This denomination is NOT the same as the former Dutch Reformed Churches that are now . This church started out in the City and after a few moves ended up in Penfield.

In the first 75 years of existence this church never had over 450 members. In the back of the book are two pages of members of the church in 1952.

They only printed 300 copies of this history. None of those have ended up in any library.

I also scanned three theater programs:

  1. The play, “Irene”, from a week in November (not sure of year) at the Lyceum Theater. If you made me guess the year this show was put on, I would say 1921, but I am only 75% sure.
  2. May 1924 Vaudeville Show at Temple Theater. Look at all the different acts that you got to see, including a whole minstrel show and then some other acts after that.
  3. “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”; March 25 -30, 1963 at Auditorium Theatre. One of the stars was Willard Waterman who had been “The Great Gildersleeve” on radio and one season on TV. Also in the cast was Dyan Cannon before she was in any movies.

  1. Thank you for making the Church History available. Rev JM Remein is mentioned and is my gggrandfather and I’ve forwarded the information to the rest of the clan.
