It got up to #1 on the Cash Box Top 100 chart for the week of Sept. 23 – 29. That week it was only at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart but then on the week of Sept. 29 – Oct. 6 it popped up to #2.
Singing back-up on this song is the gospel group The Dixie Hummingbirds. They recorded the song by themself in 1973 and their version garnered an Grammy award for Best Gospel Performance.
