I’m not a religious person. Just the same, last week I scanned the small book Hymns and Prayers for Children in the Sunday School and at Home. It was printed in 1839 in Boston. It is just 3.75 x 6.25 inches with 36 pages. I checked on Worldcat and it is in just one library; that being in Boston. The link on the title will take you to Archive.org where you can view it, download it, and even have their system read it.
I spent most of my time last week scanning photos from 2001. A person who wants to remain anonymous let me scan his collection of photos from the “Horses on Parade” art exhibit. There were two styles of fiberglass horses that were sponsored by local companies and organizations. They were decorated by local artists. Some were just painted and some of the horses had major re-work done on them. At the end of the year the horses were auctioned off. Some were bought by their sponsors, some bought by other companies, and some ended up in people’s backyards. Some got repainted quickly. Others sat outside for many years before they needed to be repainted. Undoubtedly many have been destroyed over the years. If you want to view the photos of this fairly recent historical art project, you only have to go to the Art photos page of the Monroe Co. GenWeb. There are 50 pictures of those decorated horses.
I’m not religious either but one phrase stood out to me on an evening prayer: Another day has been added to my life. So true.
I still have a VCR tape of the horses on parade .As a horse lover I enjoyed seeing them all around the area.
