Last week I spent my time recording audio narration for a presentation on St. Patrick’s Cemetery. I gave that presentation to the Upper Monroe Neighborhood Association in October ’23. It took me about 40 hours to put the presentation together. I had some of the references but needed to add more and put it all together. The presentation only had about 30 people show up to hear it. It lasted about 35 to 40 minutes.

So last week I did the recording over three days. You would think seeing as I already did the presentation that it would be easy. One sentence on one of the “slides” I had to do 15 times. Keep stumbling over a couple of the words, over and over again. After I had all the audio recorded, added each segment to each “slide.” Then when I went through the presentation I found two mistakes and had to go back and record those again. In the end the whole thing only ended up being 18 minutes. That’s probably because I cut out all the “ums” and “uhs” (except one).

Uploaded the video to YouTube late Friday afternoon. They automatically add captions. You can also correct the captions. As I was correcting captions I noticed that between “slides” you could hear me counting before I advanced to the next “slide.” I had to go back and record the whole video again. The finished video is the second (corrected) version.

Years of having acid reflux has taken a toll on my voice. I am getting hoarse and scratchy. But you can turn on those captions to help figure out what I am saying. YouTube had a hard time creating a caption for “Holy Sepuchre.” It came out most of the time as “holy supper” and sometimes as “holy supplier.” Again, I corrected the spelling in the captions.

I also have created a new web page; Local History Videos. That has videos that I have from over the years. A link to that page should  show up on the menu bar on the whole website. If it doesn’t show up on the menu bar try reloading the web page. On my FireFox browser I had to clear the cache before it would show on the menu bar.

That Videos Page also has a link on the bottom to all of my videos. I only have 43 in total. Some are music videos and other odd videos. I have other music videos that I will have to upload.
