Some rock groups add strings to their songs but Electric Light Orchestra had strings as part of their group. The group formed in 1970 but it would be their album before they would have a hit with “Evil Woman.” It was written by Jeff Lynne who is also the lead singer on the song. Jeff said that he wrote the song in a matter of minutes.

The song got up to #9 on the Cash Box chart for the week of Feb. 15 -21. On the Billboard chart it got up to #10 for two weeks (Feb. 8 – 21)

The group never did have a number one hit on the charts. The original ELO broke up in 1986. There would other versions of the group over the years with a mix of some of the old and some new members.
