“Honky Tonk Woman” was originally written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards as a country song titled “Country Honk.” After recording it they changed some lyrics and changed it into the the popular rock song. It tells of adancing girl at a bar in Memphis, TN.
“Honky Tonk Women did great on all the record charts, all around the world. In the US, it was #1 on the Cash Boxd Top 100 chart for 4 weeks (Aug. 10 – Sept. 6). On the Billboard Hot 100 chart it was at the top for 4 weeks (Aug. 17 – Sept. 13). Record World only had it at #1 for 2 weeks (Aug. 10 – 30).
Mick Jagger had a heart valve replaced in March 2019 and vows to return to touring as soon as possible.
