Here are five more issues of Rochester Trust News from the time of World War II.
Sept. – Oct. 1944.
Nov. – Dec. 1944.
Jan. – Feb. 1945.
March – April 1945.
May – June 1945.
In these issues there are some changes. First, two of the lady employees have joined the war effort. Helen Venema joined the WACs (Women’s Army Corp.). She ended up on Long Island so besides writing letters back to the bank she was also was able to return on leave to Rochester. Mary Wilson was in the Red Cross and ended up in England.
Burritt O. Fraser who went by his middle name of “Orr” ended up in a Germany Stalag (prison). In later issues of the “News” it was noted that he had been freed.
Then in the May – June 1945 issue was important company news. They were going to merge with Lincoln-Alliance Bank. They would become Lincoln Rochester Trust Company. That issue has a couple of pages of local headlines noting that Germany had surrendered. The rest of the pages in that issue were printed on some beige newsprint that has turned even more brown around the edges of the pages.
Then also scanned this last week was one issue of Linc-All News from July – Aug. 1955. That is the newsletter of Lincoln Rochester Trust. It is only 8 pages but printed on much better quality paper so it scanned very easily.
There is a whole page of employee news magazines and newsletters from other Rochester companies on this web page.
