St. Monica Church
I spent a couple of days last week out of town taking photos of tombstones. So I didn’t get very much scanned.
I did scan 3 more issues of Genesee Country Scrapbook by The Rochester Historical Society
Vol. 9, no. 1 has an article about Henry Lomb (of B&L) written by someone that knew him. It also has notes and letters of a 1832 trip to Paris by Nathaniel Thrift Rochester, son of Colonel Rochester.
Vol. 13, no. 1 has an article on St. Luke’s Church in Rochester. Another short article tells about the founding of the University of Rochester.
Then there is a Special Edition without a date. That whole issue is about the Society’s former headquarters called “Woodside.”
The booklet, Golden Jubilee; 1898 – 1948; Saint Monica’s Church, Rochester, NY is a history of the Church up to 1948. I note that throughout the booklet they refer to the church as St. Monica’s but the church’s website and the sign out front of the church says that they are St. Monica Church. Then the church says their address is 34 Monica Street but the front of the church is on Genesee Street.
The Monica St. address is the rectory for the church which is behind the church.
