Grand Funk Railroad resurrected an oldies in 1974. “The Loc-Motion” had been a hit for Little Eva (Boyd) in 1962. The song was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. They were married at that time and Eva was their nanny. They had heard her singing so they knew she would do a good job on the song.

Grand Funk Railroad (also just known as Grand Funk) was a trio that had formed in 1969 from other bands. Two of three still play with the band today.

This version of “Loco Motion” was on the top of the Cash Box Top 100 chart for the week of April 28 – May4). On the Billboard Hot 100 chart it was at #1 for two weeks (April 28 – May 13).

Since 1974 others have done versions of the song including Kylie Minogue and Carole King.
