Hit Songs of 1970 – #37

The Jackson Five were back with another hit song in 1970. “I’ll Be There” is the 4th hit that they had that year. The group were all over radio and TV. They even went on USO tours with Bob Hope to Vietnam.

“I’ll Be There” was on the top of the Cash Box Top 100 chart for the weeks of Oct. 18 -31 (2 weeks). On the Billboard Hot 100 chart it was on the top for 5 weeks (Oct. 11 – Nov. 14). Yet, this would be the last #1 hit for the group on the Billboard chart. They will be back next year because they did hit #1 on the Cash Box chart.

The group left Motown records in 1975 when they found out that they were only getting 2.8% royalties. That is when they became The Jacksons. Their last concert tour was in 2012 – 2013.
