Miss Minerva DeLand

This issue of the yearbook is dedicated (see page 5) to Minerva DeLand who was retiring after 35 years with the Fairport schools. On page 10 it describes Miss DeLand’s career and how she had been the principal since 1922. Then pages 90 – 94 have alumni writing their memories of Miss DeLand. There is a school named for Miss DeLand. It is kind of unusual in that it only has grade 9 students.

There were 66 students that graduated from the Fairport High School in 1935. Their pictures are kind of small but it left lots of space for them to write; and they did write a lot. There is a lot of writing in this yearbook to the original owner who was a junior in 1935.

The underclasses have group photos as do sports teams. There were only a few pictures of activities. No candid photos.

This yearbook has 8 pages of short stories and 5 pages of humorous things.
