Image, was the magazine for members of the George Eastman House. The title is such a general term that it is hard to find it in a online card catalogs. It appears that there are no issues in the Rochester Public Library. There are many issues at both the George Eastman House and Rush Rhees Library at U. of R. I would think that anyone doing a history of early photography or motion pictures should look up those issues to see what has already been written about the subjects.

Here are the 4 issues that I scanned:
Image; no. 58; Feb. 1958 has an article about the 2nd film festival given by George Eastman House.
Image; no. 63; Sept. 1958 has an article and pictures from silent  western films.
Image; no. 66; Dec. 1958 has an article and pictures of architecture taken in the 1850s and 1860s.
Image; vol. 8, no. 4; Dec. 1959 has an article on the films of Mary Pickford (right). Also an article about motion pictures during the 1890s.
Also scanned 3 issues of these magazines from the Rochester Historical Society:
Lastly, I reworked the PDF file I got from Google Books of Lives and Reminiscences of the Pioneers of Rochester and Western New York (1854) by John Kelsey. This booklet has short biographies of early Rochester residences that were related to an exhibit of paintings of those pioneers.
I want to mention something that relates to two of these new titles. In the Genesee Country Scrapbook; Vol. 4 there is a picture of a painting of Nathaniel Rochester. That painting in this booklet and for many years was attributed to John James Audubon. The original painting is now in the Memorial Art gallery where they no longer believe that it was painted by Audubon. They aren’t sure who painted Mr. Rochester’s picture. The last listing in Lives and Reminiscences of the Pioneers… has a biography for Mr. Rochester and seeing as he was listed in there it means that a painting was on display of Mr. Rochester. The book says that the paintings on display were all painted by Colby Kimball (also spelled Kimble). It is possible that the painting of Mr. Rochester was painted by Colby Kimball for the gallery in 1854? That would be years after Nathaniel Rochester died.

I wanted to let you know.
Yes, all the links were wrong. I have fixed them all now.
