Another week with random items scanned.
The largest item that I scanned is a program for The Rochester Shakespeare Pageant that was held June 7 – 9, 1916. It was at Exposition Park (now Edgerton Park) in Rochester. This was the 300 anniversary of the death of Shakespeare. Rather than doing his plays, this is a biographical drama with scene from various of his plays mixed in. It had a gigantic cast of Rochesterians; 80 orchestra members, a chorus of 1,000 and 2,500 actors and dancers. They are all listed in this booklet so you should search for your relatives.
The picture on the right is from the booklet. Newspaperman Albert Stone also took some photos at the pageant and these are links to his photos that are in the Rochester Public Library collection.
Souvenir of the Andrews House, describes the Andrews family home in Rochester before it is destroyed in 1924. At that time it was said to be the oldest existing house in Rochester but it was destroyed anyway. There are a couple of small photos in the booklet but there are these better photos on the RPL website:
I also scanned a program for “The Student Prince“ that was given Oct. 5 – 7, 1925 at the Lyceum Theatre in Rochester.
Last is Presenting Kodak Instant Cameras and Film (April 1976). This is a brochure showing features of Kodak Instant Cameras upon their release. Just after the cameras were released Polaroid sued for patent infringement. The law suit took a long time to resolve and in the end Kodak had to pay a lot of money to Polaroid. Kodak also bought back any of their instant cameras but many people didn’t return them.
